Sefton High School was
established in 1962. It draws students from the local and wider community and
half of Year 7 is selected on the basis of academic performance as determined
by the DET Selective Schools Unit’s testing.
The school has an excellent
reputation for student achievement. It offers a range of opportunities in the
academic, vocational, sporting, cultural and citizenship areas to extend
student abilities and develop positive attitudes and values.
Sefton High School is
committed to developing a safe and challenging learning environment which
nurtures and guides individuals to commit themselves to achieving their
personal best, enabling them to make a positive contribution to Australian
society and lead fulfilling and productive lives.
We strive to foster competent,
confident, healthy, tolerant and responsible citizens by promoting active
involvement in learning and an interest in this as a lifelong process. We
create structures whereby individual learning and support needs determine programs
in our school. We value sincerity, scholarship and service.
In 2005 a new building was
opened. It contains a Library, including a computer room and a multi-media
room, four classrooms and an administration area. In addition, the grounds of
the school were extensively upgraded. This was funded by the school and by a
contribution from the Australian Government through the Investing inOur
Schools Program. The upgrading included the resurfacing of all asphalt
areas, the installation of bollards to protect students and the grounds from
use by vehicles, the renewal of most grassed areas including the oval, new
fences, landscaping, renewal of shade areas and additional seating.
